Technology

It is more likely that water and smaller molecular weight organics are able to diffuse through the membranes polymer by bonding between segments of the polymer?? chemical structure.

The mechanism of reverse osmosis is different from filtration in that physical holes may not exist in an RO membrane (its pores are believed to be less than 0.0001 micron).

It uses a special, semi-permeable membrane which removes impurities as small as 0.0001 micron (i.e. 0.00000004 inches) in size, cleansing water of all biological impurities, suspended particles, dissolved solids (TDS), salts, metals and chemicals.

RO removes 90 to 99% of all the contaminants found in water. It is the heart of any well designed water purification system because it effectively removes a broad range of contaminants. It is the process by which water molecules are forced through a 0.0001 micron semi-permeable membrane by water pressure.
